WORKPLACE MEDIATION
Conflict in the workplace can stem from a number of factors such as: employee and/or employer conduct, differences in employee goals and expectations, performance management and changes in organisational structure.

If left unaddressed, conflict can have an impact on organisational output, employer reputation and employee morale which can lead to lost productivity and the potential for a blame culture to develop.

When attempting to reach a prompt resolution, organisations are often challenged with implementing resolution processes with managers who are often not adequately equipped with the necessary skills and training to remain impartial when managing complex situations.

In some circumstances, the manager may have a degree of involvement in the matter, creating a power imbalance which in turn can inhibit the other party from being able to truly express their concerns without fear of retaliation, again impacting staff satisfaction and retention.

Workplace mediation essentially provides the opportunity for a neutral third party to assist parties in conflict to discuss their concerns in a safe and confidential environment to find resolution. Unlike line managers and other key stakeholders, the mediator is independent and has no vested interest in the matter.
